Welcome to The Jack in the Green

Voted 60th in the UK's Top 100 Restaurants (The National Restaurant Awards, October 2011) and Winner of The Western Morning News Reader's Award (Taste of the West Food & Drink Awards, November 2011).

We finished off last year on a real high. As well as the accolades from the Restaurant Association, Michelin, Taste of the West, the Express & Echo and The Western Morning News, November also marked the beginning of our 20th year in business. The whole team deserves a special mention for all their hard work in getting us to this point, especially Matthew who has been at the helm of the kitchen for the bulk of that time.

Despite all the awards we believe there is always room to improve as a team and to keep driving forward. We begin the New Year with a brand new lounge and bar area which we hope you enjoy. In time we will extend this style and colour scheme throughout the pub.

Providing exceptional value for money is still something very close to our hearts. You won’t ever find us going down the 2 for 1 route but you can always expect professional friendly service, a very warm welcome and consistently good food whatever the occasion. Our popular ‘Totally Devon’ menu is still fantastic value for money at £25 for 3 delicious courses, lunch or dinner and we have many affordable wines to match the food.

On the bar menu several new pub classics like Shepherd’s Pie, Braised Beef with Stilton and Thai Green Cod & Prawn Curry have been introduced. Infact all our menus have taken on a more robust, warming feel with a slight shift in emphasis a little more towards the land. Game season is well and truly upon us and we intend to celebrate it!

We are also continuing to do as much as we can to help support the Rugby Association's main charity - The Wooden Spoon this year. Through our gourmet dinner in March, running the London Marathon on April 17th and by donating 50 pence from every sticky toffee pudding, in 2011 we raised just short of £13,000.
