Designed to tie in with the exciting aims of the Year of Food & Farming, we were delighted to hold the first main educational event at Darts Farm on November 22nd. After a delicious fruit smoothie, Matthew kicked off with a hands on introduction to bread making and the chance to smell fresh yeast before kneading the dough. After using the Aga it was on with the wellies and out into the fields with James Dart to see the Brussels sprouts, kale and cabbages growing.

A mug of roasted vine tomato and basil soup with the homemade granary bread soon warmed everyone up. Whilst one group visited the butcher, the team at the fish shed looked ensured the children came away knowing that Nemo is not native to our colder waters! All the children then helped to finish off the wild mushroom risotto before enjoying that and the homemade raspberry and Devon clotted cream ice cream.
