Our Charity Jazz Weekend raised £1575 for the Wooden Spoon - Thank you to everyone who supported us

Resurge is a four year-old bay gelding that we sponsor. He is owned by Chris and David Stam and trained by Stuart Kittow near Blackborough in the Blackdown Hills.

His pedigree is impeccable, having been sired by Danehill Dancer out of Resurgence who is a full sister to Pivotal. Carrying an official rating of 84, he is at the top end of horse racing in the UK. (Danehill Dancer and Pivotal are two of the top stallions in Europe. On his ‘dad’s’ side he is directly related Mastercraftsman while on the dam’s side he is half-brother to Araafa.)

The Stams bought Resurge from the trainer, Jeremy Noseda, in October 2008 and have run him at various race courses over the summer, including Sandown, Newmarket, Goodwood and Ascot, where the Jack in the Green logo was proudly worn on the jockey’s silks. He made his debut on Channel 4 racing in May this year and all his other races have been televised on either ‘Racing UK’ or ‘At the Races’.

His greatest success in 2009 came at Royal Windsor in June when he won a mile and a quarter race by seven and a half lengths. He then went on almost to repeat this a week later at the same course when he came a close second. As the 2009 flat season draws to a close, Resurge will continue on the all-weather track for a few more races before taking a well-earned rest over the winter, in preparation for the 2010 season in the spring.
